Stohrer's ... Fit for a King ......

The oldest patisserie in Paris opened by Louis XV's pastry chef
~ en Paris depuis 1730 ~
now that's what I call old!

I can't imagine a trip to this beautiful city without a visit to Stohrer's on Rue Montorgueil
decked out with exquisite murals by Paul Baudry
who was also partly responsible for the interior decor
of L'Opera Garnier.

Once you're through looking at the decor
cast your eyes over the myriad of viennoiseries
gateaux - terrines - petites salade - jambons - fromages
Your mind will boggle and so will your bank balance if you get too carried away!

Dear Dianne
Another wonderful address to add to my list for next time!!!
I can see this mural of Paul Baudry fitting into L'Opera Garnier too.
My daughter will be visiting an old patisserie where she lives to buy their traditional french Easter goodies - as they do! She will probably bake Hot Cross buns too, to keep her kiwi tradition alive!
A lovely post dear friend!

ps when is your next trip?

Shane:- hopefully next year ... I made my last trip a few months ago and so it's a matter of saving a few more pennies for the next time!! My list of things to do is growing by the minute.

It is almost time we visited Paris again. Our 3 day flying visit was just not long enough to find all these lovely places. Take care Diane

I will be back in a few weeks and I always manage to enjoy a few treats on this street. Stohrer is beautiful inside and out. I love the tile work on the floor.

How glorious that looks! I can't believe in my two visits to Paris so far I haven't found Stohrer yet. I must do it this year.

Gorgeous blog. I understand what you describe about your heartstrings being firmly tied to France, it truly is beautiful and no matter how long I've spent there, it doesn't seem to be enough. Thank you for awakening my urge to plan my next holiday there... Sooner, rather than later :)
