Though we travel the world to find the beautiful

we must carry it with us or we find it not

Poulet Roti .......

~  Rue Montorgueil  ~

Chicken in Paris is not any old chicken
Parisians are very particular about where and how their chickens are grown
Of a week-end you find them lined up to purchase
poulet fermier or poulet traditionnel with patates.

Many times I have purchased the beautiful yellow
grain fed poulet-fermier from this little shop and have not been disappointed
they pack it neatly into a box surrounded by crisp roast potatoes wedges.
Take-away food of the very best quality.

Les Macarons .....

~   Angelina's  Rue Rivoli   ~
( Favourite tea-rooms of Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel )

Paris is home to those wonderful little delicacies Les Macarons
with a slight crunch on the first bite leading into a soft sweet centre.
Created in the most amazing flavours
Pistache - Fleur d'Oranger - Violette - Framboise
my very favourite Caramel fleur-de-sel (salted caramel)

They say that French patissièrs lay awake at night
they can't sleep because they are dreaming up ways to
bake the very best macarons in all of Paris.

I kind of like that !

French Reflections ....

~  Kenzo at Place des Victoires  ~

Paris is the perfect city to find reflections
with smudge free windows that sparkle and reflect beautifully
terra-cotta chimney stacks and a backdrop of Mansard style architecture of
façades capped with sloping slate roofs - punctuated by dormer windows.

In earlier times the little attic rooms at the very top
were used as maids quarters - not big on space
but can you imagine the wonderful views they would have
looking out over the city of Paris

Window Shopping ........

Or as the French would say lèche-vitrines
It's a favourite pass-time in Paris
and it cost you nothing!

The window this lovely couple are looking in is
"The House of Chaumet" a very high-end boutique
specialising in finely crafted jewelry and luxury French watches
Oh La La !

Le Mariage .....

This lovely couple had used the rear portico of  L'Eglise de la Madeleine-Paris
for their wedding photos - I loved the weathered doorways and surrounds
of a building originally commissioned by Napoleon way back in 1806

And pour-moi ... merci!

Misty Morning .....

Parc Monceau is a small park located in the north-west corner of Paris
prettier for being draped in morning mist.

At the time I didn't notice the lady on the other side of the pond
obviously a keen photographer as well

Grey Skies With Rain .........

~  Rue Royale from the steps of La Madeleine Cathedral ~

In the far distance you can see Palais Bourbon
home to the French National Assembly

Trying to focus a camera while holding onto an umbrella
is not always sucessful

Snippets from Sarlat ........

Sarlat is a medieval village in the lovely area of the Dordogne
Each morning I awoke to the tolling of bells
from the 12th century Sainte-Marie bell tower.

Peeking out my turrett window I saw gas-lamps
 catching shafts of morning mist
alley-ways golden from the first breath of daylight.

The village didn't waken till a much later hour
time then to mozzie on down and gather up
a few goodies for le petite-dejeuner.

Misty Skies In Paris ..........

Misty skies in the far distance only serve to heighten the
intricate lacy structure of Paris' most famous monument
"La Tour Eiffel"
Any time of the day and in all weather
she is still beautiful.

Jardin du Palais Royal .......

I love how The Parisians escape to their parks and gardens
on sunny week-ends - reading a favourite book or
just taking a sun-nap as in the pic above

Bordered with well manicured flower-beds and dotted with park benches
the Palais-Royal gardens are perfect for sitting and whiling away an afternoon
before meandering over to one of the coffee shops that line the palace arcade.

It really is one of my favourite places to be in all of Paris
