Angelina's ... with or without crème....

Angelina's the beautiful belle-époque tea salon on Rue de Rivoli
is best known for it's scrumptous rich and decadent hot chocolate
served with or without crème

No wonder Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel
were regular customers 

I snapped this shot before crème and as you can see
it's like pure liquid chocolate

Of course no trip to Angelina's would be complete
without taste testing their macarons
( the mini variety may I add )
salted caramel - pistache - vanilla - rasberry

I can assure you they were all delicious but my favourite
was the salted caramel - miam miam!!

Parc Monceau .......

~ Pond and Colonnade ~

Parc Monceau a small but pretty public park which has inspired
many great artists including Claude Monet
nicely located in the more salubrious north-western area of Paris.

On the day I visited it was teeming with Posh-Paris joggers
and au-pairs walking their charges in beautiful French baby carriages.

Chimney Pots Amid The Mist ....

~ Looking out over Paris from the terrace at Galleries LaFayette ~
...............................

I was disappointed on arriving at the viewing terrace to see
 the mist had all but covered this romantique city
 I took a few shots and mozzied on inside to check out
the shoes and perfumes and Pierre Herme macarons ( as you do )
It was only when I returned home and on sorting through my photos
 realised that the view from the top was really quite beautiful
I had been expecting clear blue skies and a view that went on forever
and hadn't embraced the beauty of a misty morning

Red Awnings And A Waft Of Mimosa ....

Red awnings and trailing red geraniums which adorn the prestigious
Hotel Plaza Athénée are reflected through the front door windows
of "House of Caron" an exclusive Boutique perfumery
located on Avenue Montaigne Paris

As I stood near the doorway I could smell the most exquisite
fragrances of tuber-rose, cedarwood and Mimosa
wafting on the morning air.

Maison Chaumet ....

Sitting on the edge of  Place Vendome
is this very prestigious jewellery establishment  - fondée en 1780
don't you just love it how the French add that
very important snippet of information fondée
and well they might because they were the official jewellers
to none other than  Napoleon Boneparte !! 

just looking through the windows gave me goose-bumps

Rainy Day in Paris .....

I love Paris when it rains - it sort of glistens

In case you're wondering why there are no people in this scene
It was early morning  - I was making my way along Rue Montorgueil
to the "Eric Kayser" Boulangerie for croissants au buerre
and vienoisseries avec chocolat
you know those much needed items for Le petit dejeuner

Reflecting on Monet .......

Claude Monet's waterlily pond at " Giverny" in the upper Normandy region of France
is where Monet lived and painted his best known pieces of waterlilies

When I visited last month there were no waterlilies in flower
 but it was ablaze with the colours of Autumn

Chocolat .......

If you've seen the movie "Chocolat" starring Julliette Binoche
you might remember the opening scene where Vianne Rocher and her daughter Anouk
drift into a little french village and set up a chocolate shop.

These shots were taken in the quaint village of Beynac Dordogne where filming
commenced before moving across to Flavigny-sur-Ozerain in Burgundy
