Chimney Pots, Mansard Roofs and Balconies

There's something wonderful about looking out across the rooftops of Paris
with it's mass of deep grey mansard roofs, terracotta chimney pots
and decorative ironwork balconies
I think of the multitude of students living in
Chambre-de-Bonne roof-top studios.
I think of the everyday Parisian who lives, works and breathes
in this amazing city with it's love of beauty and attention to detail .
I think of the many artisan work-shops
patissiers - chocolatiers - fashion designers- fleuristes
parfumeurs - boulangers.
composers - writers - artists - photographers
All trying their very best to get it right.

Every time I get a glimpse of these beautiful images of the roof tops of Paris I see something magical in the image.
Whether it be in a film, aa photo or real life. There is something about them that is enchanting.

The view does make you think about all the people who live here and the centuries of history in many of these buildings. It is easy to dream about every book you ever read of Paris... a beautiful sight here, Dianne.

I love rooftop views of Paris as well. The chimney pots and even the wonky TV antennae!!

(I hope this goes through, Dianne. Blogger has been having so many problems.)

But anyway, I love these photos - such perfect examples of the magnificent Parisian architecture. But I most love your beautiful sentiments about the people who have created it.

As always, it's a pure delight to visit you. - g

Nice shot! What a beautiful view! I’ve never been to Paris before, but seeing your shot makes me visualize the things that I’ve actually read in books. The Parisian skyline is purely amazing!
