Place du Casino.......

Much hustle and bustle on Place-du-Casino in Monte Carlo
with it's well heeled clientele.

This beautiful Belle-Epoque building adjacent to the Casino
 is the luxurious Salle-Garnier
or as it's more commonly known "L'Opera de Monte Carlo"
Designed by none other than the famed Charles Garnier
who designed the Palais- Garnier in Paris

To the right of the Casino is the ~Hotel-de-Paris~
housing the opulent Alain Ducasse restaraunt  ~ Le Louis XV ~
the hands on the clocks are all set at 12
to remind patrons that inside this palace of pleasure
time is of no consequence.

Maybe the bill would be!!

Haha Diane, you're right! If people get too carried away, they will have a big bill. Although, in that setting it almost seems worth it!

In reading about Palais Garnier, I learned a bit about Garnier and this structure... I did not know about the clocks and your comment about the size of the bill is funny!

I am a natural gambler so I try to keep away from casinos though I have on occasions come home with a bit more in my pocket than what I left with. I have not been in one for years now though and it is better that way! Diane

Well said Dianne. You comment made me smile this morning about the clocks and the bill.

We've never been to Monaco, but it's on the "to do" list. However, we've been close (Nice). The Belle Epoque buildings remind me of Nice and the big promenade there with the flags and palms.

Boy I loved Monaco, must get back there again. Lovely pictures, thanks!

I love the idea of setting the clocks to twelve...time is of no consequence...I'm sure it would feel just like that when inside. Beauitful! I wonder what my family would think if I set all our clocks to twelve! ;o)

I didn't know that about the clocks! I think all of the clocks in Monte Carlo should be set at 12 :-)

What a lovely blog you have, Diane! I have not yet visited Paris, but hope to one day soon. I will have to follow along to find out more about what I should see when I visit!
I actually had my first trip to Australia a couple of weeks ago as I accompanied my husband on his business trip to Sydney. It was a beautiful city!

Hi Dianne! Surely the bill will have consequences at Ducasse's resto... ;))

OK; I know that contemporary art doesn’t take unanimous approval... But some pieces are worth seeing. Check it at Blogtrotter Two, enjoy and have a superb weekend!!
