Monsieur Monet's Kitchen.....

There's no shortage of space in the big blue kitchen at Giverny
Every window looks out onto the beautiful garden
where Claude Monet spent most of his days
either painting or gardening.
The black cat is a very pampered puss
(note the blue collar to match the kitchen decor)
Interestingly in many of the photographs of Claude taken in this garden
there is a black cat
I'm wondering if this is the grand-son cat??
or as the French would say
le petit-fils chat

No shortage of pots and pans in this kitchen!!
and notice that huge wood oven
lots of space to bake for the large Monet family.
The meals were eaten in the lovely
buttery yellow dining room right next door

Fantastic photos, I wonder if the cat really is a descendant. Diane

I'm embarrassed to admit that in all my trips to France, I've yet to visit Giverney.
Maybe because my daughter lives there, we are always doing family things.
It's been on my list forever, so next time I'm not leaving without seeing it!!
Thank you Dianne for reminding me

I'd like to imagine he's the grandson cat, Dianne. That's a lovely notion!

I have Monet's cookbook. His home and kitchen are fabulous aren't they. He must have really liked blue and yellow. I would love to visit Giverny one day. I know Monet enjoyed entertaining and often had a lot of company.

Interesting that the cat's color matches the kitchen decor.

That first photo is priceless and looks like a painting with le chat noir sitting so nicely (and color coordinated) outside the window...

I need to schedule a trip there while in Paris next.

I love the beautiful curtains! Great photo with the cat on the windowsill.
It reminds me of my childhood ..
My mother had dezelde curtains, but in a different color.
What a special cuisine, with such a very large stove.

Greetings, Helena

Giverny is so beautiful. I was there in early May and it was a riot of color. I can't even imagine what it must be like in July or August.

His kitchen inspired me to do mine in blue and yellow too.

What an amazing kitchen, Dianne! I would just stare at the tiling instead of cooking. Love that stove, too. Thank you so much for sharing this. – g

I must get here one day. My granddaughter Eva so wants to see it as well. Her art teacher read "Linnea in Monet's Garden" and not she's a fan.

BTW, that chat noir with the blue collar is the spitting image of my sweet Meeps who also wears bleu! :)
