Fleurs de Lotus ....

(click on images to enlarge - you will see the finer details)

Just sharing with your these photo's of the exquisite
Sacred Lotus flowers, now in bloom in my
home town of Adelaide in South Australia.
They also grow prolifically in French Tahiti
where the seeds are powdered & used
in body scrubs / exfoliants
(the botanic name is Nelumbo Nucifera)

~ I hope you like them ~

In the centre of the pond is a statue entitled
"Boy on Swan"

The colour in the bud is simply divine!!

"Ducks on a pond
a grass bank beyond
a blue sky of spring
white clouds on the wing
what a little thing
to remember for years"
taken from the poem by William Allingham

Make someone’s special day last way past sunset with some bright-colored flowers that continue to glow long after the candles have been blown out. Birthdays come but once a year, so take the opportunity to spoil someone with flowers.

Hello Diane,
these images are super fantastique! thank you very much for sharing the beauty with us. We had lotu flowers in a pond in our local Botanical gardens for many years...and then all of a sudden since last more. it must be the water --even the fish died. this is very sad for us indeed.

Hello Diane,
Your photos are as always, beautiful. I particularly like the third photo - such clarity and beauty. I can see why the Lotus flower is a symbol of Buddhism. Such a perfect flower.
