Though we travel the world to find the beautiful

we must carry it with us or we find it not

pretty lanterns and chimney pots ........

~   rue saint-sauveur   ~

it always amazes me when looking up in Paris
beautiful architecture and style in everything I see

 pretty lanterns and hanging baskets
wrought-iron balconies and decorative shop signage
and of course way-way up top are those wonderful iconic
terracotta chimney pots

Oh! how I love Paris

to market to market ........

place de-la liberte  Sarlat  Dordogne   ~

French country markets are one of the places of love
to spend time in when visiting France
Crammed full with regional produce and very discerning shoppers
who never settle for anything but the best.

My favourite buy at this market was wonderful big chunks of Nougat
in flavours of caramel-au-beurre-sale
miel et lavande and another with big chunks of chocolate and nuts

mind you ... delectable to the taste buds
but not so good for the teeth

where one could scrummage amid old French books
for hours

at the mount ......

~ Mont-Saint-Michel   Normandie France  ~

I would have liked to have visited this wonderful
world heritage listed site when the tide was full
and water surrounded the mount !!
but alas us tourists don't always have a choice
and on the southern side a chanel of water still remained
giving a small window for reflections

night skies over le marais .......

Oh! how I love to see the rain drenched cobbled lanes of Paris
gleaming and throwing reflections that light up little
normally insignificant areas

snatched on my trusty mobile
on our way home from dinner at a gorgeous little French brasserie
"La Gallopin" where we dined on real French faire

French onion soup
 coq-au-vin
  trilogy of crème brulee

People Watching at Le Nemours ......

This wonderful old café in the centre of Paris is my favourite spot for people watching
A place for sipping café crème or chocolat-chaud
while watching the world go by

blue shutters amid cobbled laneways ......

~   Le Barroux : Vaucluse Provence  ~

I loved pottering along cobbled lanes in this charming
medieval village - it was after le dejeuner
and local residents were all taking their afternoon nap
not a soul in sight except us tourists

storm clouds over cider fields ......

near the little French village of Trelat
storm clouds were gathering over fields of
blossom laden apple orchards.
