Though we travel the world to find the beautiful

we must carry it with us or we find it not

Stripes .........

 Palais Royal  Paris   ~

Daniel Buren's "Les Deux Plateaux"

Daniel loved black and white stripes and he painted them everywhere in Paris
on sides of buildings - trams - buses - billboards and wherever he could find a space
but this was his first ever authorized work completed in the mid 1960's
and kids have been loving it ever-since

tailors, cobblers and booksellers .....

~   Galeries Vivienne   ~

one of my most favourite covered passages in Paris
with it's elegant canopy plus mosaics, paintings
and sculptures at every turn

I often pause for café crème in one of the busy eateries
and enjoy the decadence and opulence
of this unique galerie

apart from just sitting and enjoying
there are wonderful boutiques to be to be found
tailors - cobblers -  booksellers
and a lovely hairdressers where I feel quite confident
to have my haircut ..... and am treated in the best of French style

Oh! I do like to be beside the sea-side .....

soft summer skies over Saint-Malo in Brittany
with just a touch of sun shining through

after a brisk walk along the beach that went on forever
it was time to retreat to the sheltered laneways of this
wonderful medieval town and try a crepe or two

summer roses at the palace .......

one of the prettiest summer gardens to visit in Paris
are the delightful Palais-Royal Jardins

Created by Cardinal Richelieu way back in 1633
meticulously maintained but still retaining
a sense of tranquillity in the midst of this bustling city

pretty lanterns and chimney pots ........

~   rue saint-sauveur   ~

it always amazes me when looking up in Paris
beautiful architecture and style in everything I see

 pretty lanterns and hanging baskets
wrought-iron balconies and decorative shop signage
and of course way-way up top are those wonderful iconic
terracotta chimney pots

Oh! how I love Paris

to market to market ........

place de-la liberte  Sarlat  Dordogne   ~

French country markets are one of the places of love
to spend time in when visiting France
Crammed full with regional produce and very discerning shoppers
who never settle for anything but the best.

My favourite buy at this market was wonderful big chunks of Nougat
in flavours of caramel-au-beurre-sale
miel et lavande and another with big chunks of chocolate and nuts

mind you ... delectable to the taste buds
but not so good for the teeth
